Hakim Ziyech Joins Wydad AC

Wydad Athletic Club is proud to officially announce the signing of Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech, who returns to Casablanca after more than a decade of success at the highest levels of European football. The 32-year-old attacking midfielder has signed a contract that runs through June 2027, marking one of the most significant homecomings in modern African football.
Ziyech arrives at the club following standout spells at SC Heerenveen, FC Twente, Ajax Amsterdam, Chelsea FC, and most recently Galatasaray SK, where he delivered key performances in the Turkish Süper Lig and the UEFA Champions League. Known for his creativity, vision, long-range passing and decisive left foot, he has earned widespread recognition as one of the greatest Moroccan players of his generation.
On the international stage, Ziyech played a central role in Morocco’s historic run to the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, contributing to the Atlas Lions’ emergence as a global symbol of African excellence. His leadership, experience and high-performance culture are expected to bring an immediate impact to Wydad, both on and off the pitch.
For Wydad AC, his arrival represents more than a high-profile transfer. It is a strategic statement that reinforces the club’s sporting ambition, strengthens the professional environment around the first team, and connects deeply with the identity of millions of supporters. It also marks the return of one of Casablanca’s own to the city where his journey began.
For the fans, Ziyech’s decision to wear the red and white badge goes beyond emotion. It signals the beginning of a new era shaped by ambition, unity, and the belief that Moroccan talent can shine at home as brightly as on the world stage.
